asked to generate of map of the vicinity including the lot to the north. Staff was directed
to supply aerial photos or maps in the future. Mr. McCormack stated he would accept the
table and determine the 1,000-foot location. All members voted"aye". Motion carried.
i
Mr. Marohn stated that all Preliminary and Final Agendas go out by email and the DNR
is on the email list. This is not an official notification.
APPLICANT: Arvig Evergreen LLC.
Applicant requests Preliminary Plat of Evergreen Fourth Addition.
Mr. Marohn stated that a letter had been received from Mike Arvig requesting this matter
be tabled and he waived the 60-day rule. No motion was necessary as this matter was
still tabled from the June meeting.
APPLICANT: Gregory and Jessica Cheek.
Applicant requests Conditional Use Permit for Type IV Home Occupation.
Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report. Applicants were present, as well as Patrick
Selter. Mr. Selter explained that their business is at a crossroads and they are looking for
recommendations from the Planning Commission. They have minimal employees and
only operate with a full staff four months a year, May through August. Access would be
onto Wild Acres Road, not Evenson Road. Anderson Brothers is the majority of the
traffic.
Brian Evenson was present. He stated this home occupation would have no impact on the
area—it would be more like a storage shed. It would also employ a couple of kids in the
area with summer jobs.
The Commission stated that alternate access would be to Evenson Road and then to
Akerson Road. Mr. Selter stated that they have 2 trucks and 2 boats. They need the
structure size to store boats. An increase in business wouldn't mean more traffic. There
would be no hardship to move the access to Evenson. Road. Mr. Cheek stated that they
want to keep their business in Pequot Lakes. He also stated that the Staff Report is
incorrect. The size of the storage building is 4,000 sq. ft., not 5,000, and 200 of that
would be an office. They plan to have up to 3 boats and 4 trucks. The Planning
Commission pointed out that the proposed structure is 863 sq. ft. too big. Applicant
stated they can live with a building that is only that much smaller.
There was no public comment.
A motion was made by Bill Habein, seconded by Tom Adams,to approve the Type IV
Home Occupation, based on the following Findings of Fact:
Planning Commission 2
July 21, 2005
