The Chamber is acceptable to the City's proposal with two exceptions. The
Chamber would like a long term lease with renewal options and is requesting the
City to pay the gas and electric utility bills. The Chamber has stated that the
yearly average utility bills are $3,842. In return, the Chamber would pay the City
$450 per month.
The City has estimated that it would cost approximately $9,000 per year to do the
tasks listed in the City Proposal column. If utilities were added, the cost would
increase to $12,842.
Buildin Committee Recommendation:
A. City to handle all tasks in the "City Proposed" column and charge the
Chamber $450 per month ($5,400 per year); or
B. City to handle all tasks in the "City Proposed" list including gas and
electric utilities and charge the Chamber $775 per month ($9,300 per year).
*These terms would be re-evaluated after a two year time period.
Council Action Requested: Council consideration of the Building Committee's
recommendations. The Council's decision on the recommendation will be
presented to the Chamber. If agreed upon between the City and the Chamber, staff
will then have the City Attorney draw up the new lease and it will be presented to
the Council and the Chamber Board.
