i <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> �. 2008 ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br /> 1. DOWNTOWN PLAN— <br /> • Informed the Council of the importance of moving forward with the Downtown <br /> Plan <br /> • A committee was formed to work on implementation of the plan- Committee <br /> members Chuck Marohn, Sheila Haverkamp, Dawn Bittner, Chamber of <br /> Commerce Rep, and Mark Jurchen <br /> • Exploring financing options <br /> • Working on a skeleton plan of implementation to present to the Council <br /> 2. INDUSTRIAL PARK EXPANSION <br /> • Completed a study on areas available for expansion of the industrial park. <br /> • Recommended a future expansion of the industrial park into property owned by <br /> the City currently used as the spray irrigation field. <br /> 3. FACILITY PLAN— <br /> • Recommended to the Council that a facility plan be completed to consider re- <br /> locating the spray irrigation facilities or to consider another method of disposing <br /> the City's wastewater. <br /> • The Council accepted the EDC recommendation and approved moving ahead with <br /> the plan by phasing the process over a I to 3 year process. <br /> 4. ORDINANCES AND SETBACKS AFFECTING INDUSTRIAL PARK <br /> • The EDC recommended that the Planning Commission review ordinances, <br /> setbacks and lot sizes in relation to the redevelopment of the existing industrial <br /> park. <br /> 5. BUSINESS RETENTION AND EXPANSION PROGRAM— <br /> • EDC is now assisting BLADC with business retention and expansion visits. <br /> 6. JOBZ TRANSFER <br /> • Recommended that the Council transfer JOBZ acres to Crosslake for Cross-Tech. <br /> 7. CONSIDERATION OF HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY <br /> • Heard presentations from regarding Health Care trends and discussed the <br /> possibility of exploring the Health Care arena as an economic development <br /> opportunity for Pequot Lakes. <br /> 8. BUSINESS INVENTORY <br /> • The EDC organized a business inventory, conducted the inventory and put <br /> together a business brochure listing all businesses in Pequot Lakes. <br />
