City of
Pequot
Lakes _ _
AGENDA ITEM #9.4
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Tim Houle, City Engineer
Date: February 3, 2014
Sub_iect: Project Priority List (PPL)
Report: The PPL is a list put together by the MPCA for wastewater projects
around the State (the MN Dept. of Health has a similar PPL for water projects).
This PPL is looked at by most funding agencies when providing funding
assistance (low interest loans and grants). There is information and forms to fill
out. It costs us about $1,000 to submit.
We suggest the City get on the PPL with wastewater improvements related to the
proposed 4-lane Hwy 371 and the Facility Plan we are preparing.
While we will try and prepare this application on behalf of the City within our
Facility Plan efforts, our Facility Plan proposal was basically a 2004 proposal.
Thus, I hope the Council is okay with this additional scope and if we exceed our
original effort / dollars (Facility Plan was $33,600) by $1,000.
The deadline this year to submit an application to the PPL is on or before March
7. I know your next Council meeting is March 4, but that would be cutting it
extremely close to get approval that night and get this PPL application in by the
end of that week. Thus, that is why we are asking for approval at this February
City Council meeting.
Council Action Requested: Council motion authorizing the City Engineer to
submit a PPL application with wastewater improvements related to the proposed
4-lane Hwy 371 and the Facility Plan.
